Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) tubing is a non-toxic, chemically inert, and transparent material with many uses: 

  • Properties

    PTFE tubing is resistant to most chemicals and solvents, and has a low coefficient of friction. It's also thermally stable, with a melting point of 327°C and a temperature range of -200°C to 260°C. 

  • Applications

    PTFE tubing is used in applications that require resistance to high temperatures, corrosive chemicals, and high voltages. It's often used in fluid transfer applications, cabling, and heat-exchanger systems. 

  • Other uses

    PTFE tubing is also popular in food contact applications because of its low coefficient of friction. 

  • Production

    PTFE tubing is made by extruding a resin into a desired shape using a die and mandrel. The tubing is then sintered at a high temperature, and cut into the desired lengths. 

  • Brand name

    PTFE tubing is also known as Teflon tubing, though Teflon is a protected brand name.
